The Story Behind PPPA

Office of Development and Asset Management (PPPA) has been around for more than 30 years in Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It starts with the Development Division, Department of the Chancellery in 1976 and in 1996 the Development Division, Department of the Chancellery and Part of the property, the Bursar have been merged into a single Department under the supervision of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (development) and is headed by the Deputy Registrar.

In early 2006, the position of Deputy Vice Chancellor (development) has been repealed and transferred his post to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (research and innovation). In Exchange for that position, the Development Division was placed under the supervision of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (research and innovation) and is led by a head of Division. After the occurrence of the restructuring, a Director appointed for to this organization and responsible directly to the Vice Chancellor begins on 1 May 2006. In line with the restructuring, it has upgraded from Development Division to the Office of Development and Asset Management to strengthen the objectives of the organization.

Since the establishment of the beginning of this section, there are two main functions, namely, administrative and technical staff. After the restructuring done, PPPA was divided into three parts, namely, administration and finance, Project Management Division and related Maintenance to facilitate the organisation running efficiently and orderly manner.

Beginning July 2014, PPPA restructuring has been implemented to a system of Zoning where PPPA is divided into five (5) other zones, the Administration and Finance Section and the Contract and Quantity Survey Section under the administration of Vice Chancellor. 5 the zone comprising the Academic Zone, Residential Zone, Technology Zones, Medical Zone and Agricultural Zones. Each of the zones is tasked to oversee complaints and approve technical works according to a given list of department that have been enacted to the respective zone.

Since 1 October 2015, the structure management of Development Office and Asset Management was changing whereby heading under new Director.  

PPPA now widening in line with current progress and development of the UNIVERSITY in accordance with the objectives and the purpose of its establishment.
