SERDANG, 9 April 2026 – The Office of Development and Asset Management (PPPA), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the Hands-On Power BI Dashboard Development Basic Course on 9 April 2026 at the Exa and Zeta Training Rooms, Information Development and Communication Centre (iDEC).

The course was attended by 28 PPPA staff members comprising both Management and Professional (P&P) officers as well as support staff. The programme aimed to provide early exposure and enhance participants’ fundamental understanding of data-driven dashboard development using the Power BI application.

The training session was conducted by Manisah Othman from the Department of Management, School of Business and Economics, who has extensive experience in data analytics and interactive dashboard development.

Throughout the course, participants were introduced to the basic concepts of dashboard development, including data processing, data visualisation fundamentals, and the use of essential functions to create simple and user-friendly reports using Power BI. The hands-on approach enabled participants to directly apply the knowledge gained through practical exercises.

This programme is expected to serve as a starting point in strengthening PPPA staff capabilities in leveraging data for more accurate and impactful decision-making, in line with the university’s efforts towards digital transformation and fostering a data-driven work culture. Additionally, the programme supports the university’s aspiration to enhance digital competencies among its workforce and improve service delivery efficiency through the adoption of modern technologies.
