Development Office and Asset Management has issued a General Guide and electricity saving measures UPM/PPPA/100-5/7 vide its letter dated July 29, 2011 .
The Guide is the steps that can be taken to save electricity and consequently reduce the high cost of utility usage and efficiency at UPM .
Thus, all members of UPM asked to jointly support efforts towards saving electricity university by taking the following actions : -
1. Establish and enforce time On and Off the electrical system from the
General Office as the break (1.00 pm - 2.00 pm ) and turn off the supply
after working hours ( 5.00 pm ) .
2. Minimize the use of electrical appliances during peak hours ( peak)
maximum demand of in between 11:00 am - 1.00 pm and
3.00 pm - 4.00 pm .
3. Ensure that all computers and other electrical equipment is switched off
after office hours or after use .
4. Minimizing the use of air conditioning. Fans and air outside the building
can be used as a substitute such as opening air routes such as windows ,
to allow air in and out of the building .
5. Ensure light switches and air conditioning classrooms are always closed if
not in use.
6. Ensure proper maintenance of air conditioners in the timeline should be.
7. Ensure the air conditioner set at a comfortable temperature ( 24-26
degrees Celsius ) .
7. Using the air conditioner or refrigerator with Energy Efficient high .
8. Ensure the use of laboratory equipment such as pumps and electric motors
using the High Efficient blower motor .
9. Encourage the use of intelligent control system or a timer control or
movement sensors such as a lecture hall or office to control light switches
or air conditioning.
10.Ensure lights are broken , replaced with energy-saving lamp (energy
saving) such as LED or T5 florescent lighting .
11.Encourage staff to wear appropriate clothing to set air conditioner
temperatures .
12.Electricity savings campaign at the PTJ with putting up posters and
distributing pamphlets related electricity savings results through the
efficient use of energy .
