Monitoring Visit to the UPM Suction and Water Storage Tank Project
SERDANG, SELANGOR – In a hands-on display of leadership and commitment, the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), YBhg. Dato' Professor Ir. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, personally led a project monitoring visit for the construction of the new Suction and Storage Water Tanks on Monday, 13th October 2025.
The visit, which began at 2.00 PM at the project site, underscores the university management's dedicated focus on ensuring key infrastructure developments are progressing smoothly and effectively for the benefit of the entire campus community.
A Strategic Project for a Growing Campus
This vital water infrastructure project is more than just a construction site; it is a key initiative approved under the nation's Second Rolling Plan of the Twelfth Malaysia Plan (RMKe-12). Its placement within this national framework highlights its strategic importance in building a more resilient future for UPM, directly supporting the needs of a vibrant and growing academic community.
A Closer Look at Progress: From Paper to Reality
The monitoring session provided a comprehensive look at the project's heartbeat. The agenda featured two key parts:
First, a detailed briefing laid out the project's current status. This included a transparent report on the Physical Progress—the actual percentage of construction completed on the ground—alongside the Financial Progress, tracking expenditure against the allocated budget.
Following the numbers, the delegation, led by the Vice-Chancellor, moved from the meeting room to the field. They toured the construction site to see the progress firsthand, assessing the quality of work and the tangible readiness of the new facilities.
Building a More Sustainable UPM
At its core, the construction of these new water tanks is about strengthening the university's backbone. This critical upgrade will ensure UPM's water supply system is more robust and efficient, capable of meeting both current and future demands. The new infrastructure promises to directly enhance the university's operational sustainability and, ultimately, the quality of life for every student and staff member on campus.
Through attentive oversight visits like this one, UPM reaffirms its commitment to delivering this project on time, on specification, and on budget—building a better foundation for the university's future.
